Great White Shark spectacular
Duration:
8 hour(s) - Location:
Mossel Bay
Spend your morning seeing these highly efficient marine predators in their own environment from within a stainless steel cage. Often sharks ranging from 2 m to 4.5 m long can be spotted and come as close to you as half a meter. You may spend a few sessions in the cage and since Mossel Bay is on the Indian Ocean coast, the water is quite comfortable with a wet suit on.
After returning to the quayside we supply a short transfer or you self drive to the helicopter base from where you fly 10-12 or 18-20 minutes along the coast and have the opportunity of spotting the sharks from the air. Of course, between May and October you have a just about 100% chance of seeing a few whales as well.
Return to Mossel Bay for a visit to the local aquarium operated by the Oceans Research team, a scientific NGO with a track record of a few pioneering research discoveries around marine mammals, especially the great white shark. If the group size warrants it, we will arrange a complimentary presentation by one of the scientists or intern where they share their research with you.

Itinerary
on this page
Arrive at the quayside base of the Shark Expedition and have a snack and coffee, briefing and some fellowship with the crew and other divers before you depart on a short transfer to the cage diving area. The cage is put in the water and the divers take turns in the cage once the sharks arrive at the boat. If the sharks arrive early all divers should have more than one session in the cage. The professional staff on board will answer any questions and look after your comfort. When you return to the quay you depart to the helicopter base about 30 km away and after a short briefing you fly in groups of three for either 10-12 minutes or 18 – 20 minutes (your choice) and after the whole group has flown we return to Mossel Bay for the visit to the aquarium and the possible presentation by one of the scientist or interns. You are welcome to toast the wonderful experience with the group at a local restaurant right next to the aquarium afterwards.
