We travel off road in the mountains of southern Cape, parallel to the Garden Route, in a fynbos rich environment. The trace of the old wagoners is retraced as we move from trail to trail, camping like the pioneers on 18th century.
Itinerary

Day 1
Make your way at leisure to Knysna where we meet up at our centralised camp site near Knysna.
Day 2
Depart on Tour of Knysna's indigenous Forrest, lunch at community project at Diepwalle and we then make our way to Burchell's for our first night on the Ox wagon trail as such. Camp at Burchell.
Day 3
Spend day at Burchell's following the trail of the botanist himself. Meet the legendary Katot Meyer and learn about the early Wagoner's lifestyle. Camp at Burchell.
Day4
Depart Burchell'l and drive over Duiwelskop, Zebra ad Mount Hope to Louvain. Camp at Louvain.
Day 5
Depart Louvain, traverse the Attakwaskloof Pass to Bonniedale via the ruins of the Bonthuys Hotel and the English Fort . Camp at Bonniedale.
Day 6
Spend the day at Bonniedale, drive the 4X4 routes or other activieties on offer. Camp at Bonniedale.
Day 7
Depart for Cape Town via Heidelberg, travelling on gravel and some lesser travelled roads.

Participant guidelines
Notes to pioneers:
- This trip is trailer friendly for offroad type camping trailers with high clearence
- 4X4 vehicles must be well maintained, have low range and adequate recovery points
- Tyres will be deflated off-road, so pressure gauges and compressors are essential
- Although we camp each night, there are flushing toilets and hot water is available at all camp sites, however basic these may be
- There are no fuel or food stops between leaving Knysna and arriving in Heidelberg on the last day. Therefore you must be self-sufficient for the full duration of the trip
- All vehicles must be equipped with a 29MHz radio.This is for safety reasons as well as the dissemination of interesting information along the way
- This is an unhurried trip, so relax and do not forget your sense of humour
- There are activities such as horse riding, Foefie slides etc at certain trails, which are for your own account should you or family member wish to partake
