Meet at the commercial slip next to the yacht club one hour before launch, relax, have breakfast, and join the compulsory safety briefing. The trip to the shark dive site is only about 10 minutes making Mossel Bay the most accessible white sharks in the world. The bay is well protected with sea conditions normally very calm and comfortable. The crew will provide a cage dive briefing on the board.
We bait and chum (to attract the sharks) around the boat with natural marine life products that form part of the shark diet. It can take minutes or hours for the first shark to appear. While we have a high success rate, these are wild sharks and a sighting cannot be guaranteed.
When the sharks arrive the cage is lowered and the diving starts while the non-divers can enjoy topside viewing of the sharks. You may take action photos as the sharks will be very near the surface. Unlike shark movies like Jaws, the sharks do not bang into the cage or boat as this injures them. Cage diving is safe.
Once we have sharks at the boat, the cage will go into the water and the diving will begin. Topside viewing is exciting for the non-diver and as the shark works very close to the surface you will have plenty of opportunity to take some action shots. A trip lasts around 4 hours and when you return we serve afternoon tea while handing out certificates of the day.
